When Life Slowed Me Down—And I Finally Listened

Scripture for Reflection:
"Be still, and know that I am God…”
– Psalm 46:10
Last week, I slowed down. Not because I wanted to—but because I had to.
My energy was off. My motivation? Low. I wasn’t overwhelmed by work. I was disconnected from me.
I kept trying to push through—until I realized pushing was the very thing pulling me out of alignment.
So I paused. I sat quietly on my couch with no music, no journal, no spiritual to-do list. Just me and silence. And in that stillness, God didn’t give me a revelation—He gave me rest.
I thought I needed more discipline.
But what I needed… was to breathe.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s not lost on me that this sacred pause came just before the month began. Almost like heaven was reminding me—and maybe you too—that clarity doesn't always come from doing more. Sometimes, it comes from doing nothing.
This isn’t about burnout. It’s about soul care.
And last week reminded me that even healers need healing. Even leaders need stillness. Even pattern breakers need a pause.
If you're feeling off, maybe it's not failure.
Maybe it's your soul asking you to realign.
Motivational Nugget:
Stillness is not weakness. Sometimes it’s your next act of strength.
Affirmation:
I honor my inner pace. I give myself permission to rest and reset.
What to Do:
Carve out 20 minutes this week to just be. Don’t fill it with tasks. Sit. Listen. Breathe. Ask: “Where am I out of sync with what matters most?”
