The Power of Self-Worth – Seeing Yourself as a Treasure

There was a time when Sarah felt invisible. No matter how hard she worked, how much she achieved, or how often she tried to please others, she never felt good enough. Growing up, she was constantly compared to her older sister—who seemed to do everything perfectly. "Why can’t you be more like her?" was a question she heard too often.

By the time Sarah reached adulthood, she carried the weight of self-doubt and low self-worth like a heavy cloak. She struggled in relationships, afraid to set boundaries because she feared rejection. She stayed in jobs that drained her because she didn’t believe she was worthy of better. She had allowed the world’s opinion of her to shape her identity.

When Sarah joined my Transformational Coaching Program, she was at her breaking point. During one of our sessions, I asked her, "Sarah, what do you believe about yourself?" She hesitated before finally admitting, "I feel like I’m never enough." That moment became the turning point in her journey.

Understanding Your Value in God’s Eyes: Self-worth is not about what you do or how others perceive you—it is about who you are in Christ. The world constantly places labels on us: not pretty enough, not smart enough, not successful enough. But God’s Word declares something different: You are chosen. You are loved. You are enough.

Through our coaching sessions, Sarah began to renew her mind with God’s truth:

  • She replaced negative self-talk with daily affirmations: "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14)

  • She started journaling and writing down every lie she had believed—and then countered it with scripture.

  • She set healthy boundaries in her relationships, realizing that her value didn’t come from how much she did for others but from who God created her to be.

Breaking Free from Negative Self-Talk: The voice of self-doubt can be loud, but it is not the truth. Here’s how you can begin to silence it:

  1. Identify the Lies: What are the negative thoughts you keep replaying?

  2. Challenge Them: Would God say that about you? If not, replace them with His truth.

  3. Speak Life: Speak affirmations out loud daily—your words have power.

Affirmations for Self-Worth:

  • I am deeply loved and valued by God.

  • My worth is not defined by others’ opinions.

  • I am equipped and empowered to walk in my purpose.

  • God has called me for something great, and I will step into it with confidence.

Final Thoughts: Sarah’s journey didn’t change overnight, but as she embraced her identity in Christ, everything began to shift. She pursued dreams she had long put aside. She surrounded herself with faith-filled community. Most importantly, she learned to love herself the way God loves her

If you’ve been struggling with self-worth, know this: You are a treasure. You were never meant to live in self-doubt. God has a purpose for your life, and it starts with recognizing that you are already enough.
