PRACTICE

Damola Treasure Okenla

Practice and cultivate and meditate upon these duties; throw yourself wholly into them [as your ministry], so that your progress may be evident to everybody.”
1 Timothy 4:15

Sometimes ago I was about to pay an exorbitant price for a course when I suddenly remembered that I had spent a lesser amount for a similar course before. What was my failure? I refused to put into PRACTICE what I learned earlier. Unfortunately, I would have paid ten times more if I had not remembered.

Most of us desire to have a change in our lives or a kind of turn around in our story. The truth, I have discovered is that things don’t just happen. Efforts have to be made to move from where ever we are to where we desire to be. That requires a lot of practice and NOT a just one off thing but regular ones.

Keep On Writing!

For instance, if you want to be a good writer you have to continue to write and one of the reasons I like this Five Minute Friday weekly prompts and writing challenge. Practice requires devotion, and diligence.

As a Christian in what areas are we expected to Practice?

Practice using your spiritual gift which you have received explicitly from God through the Holy Spirit.

Make a habit of living holy.

Practice love, kindness, generosity, faith, obedience and the rest. (Galatians 5:22)

Concentrate on your personal development.

Don’t just be a learner, take into action what you learn.

It also means be a doer of the Word. ( James 1:22)

This year I have been studying the story of Joseph who was a doer of the Word, not a theorist. He did not allow his adverse circumstance to stop him from doing what he knew best and that was what later helped him out of the unpleasant situation he found himself. We all the time hear people say “The practice makes perfect.” It was no wonder that Joseph was at the top of his game by the time he met with Pharaoh.

Have you heard a word recently that effects you positively? Put it into practice. Don’t JUST BE A LEARNER BE A DOER. Have you taken on a new habit good for your healthy body, soul, and spirit? Put into practice.
