Certain Woman

Damola Treasure Okenla, 2019

“God’s grace provides for the barren ones a joyful home with children
so that even childless couples find a family.
He makes them happy parents surrounded by their pride and joy.
That’s the God we praise, so give it all to him! “

Psalm 113:9

I’m in a business in which every day I come in contact with at least ten people and at most twenty and through the process have interaction with at least five and that makes me hear different stories from different people. Some stories are so bizarre, and some are pathetic. Some of my stories are from men and some from women. Amongst those stories I hear are from sad women who have made many attempts and still trying to have a child of their own, struggling single moms without support, frustrated and lonely singles ladies in an older age bracket with no hope of being hooked very soon.

Today, my mission is to encourage that struggling woman regardless of status or situation, the woman whom I want to tag, “CERTAIN WOMAN” in the order of the Scriptures way of describing a nameless individual. Like the woman with the issue of blood. ” Now a certain woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years. ( Mark 5:25) Maybe you woke up this morning with a deep sigh or sob because there is no one you can call your child like the CERTAIN WOMAN I met yesterday, remember if you have God, there is still hope, the God of Hannah is still alive and If He did it before and He can do it again. (1 Samuel 1-2; Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6)

For the CERTAIN WOMAN who is mourning the loss of one or many pregnancies unknown to others.

Single moms, I salute you! It is estimated there are 12.2 million single moms in America. These women face unique challenges and a heavy burden. It comes from being widowed, unmarried, or divorced. Maybe you woke up this morning with no assurance of knowing how to pay your bills talkless of having gifts. Remember always, cast all those burdens to Jesus. Never hesitate to accept that invitation, it is still waiting for you.

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.”

Matthew 11:28

Another category of CERTAIN WOMAN that I want to greet and encourage especially today are the elderly single women, never married, probably in their late thirties, forties or fifties who may have woked up today and there is nobody to say hello or buy you that special gift. Remember, your Father has not forgotten you. Keep on doing your best, fostering, mentoring and nurturing other people’s children and don’t ignore fellowship with people with the same kindred spirit. Enjoy yourself!

Being A Mother Is Not Just Having Children Of Your Own

“But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me,
And my Lord has forgotten me.” “Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. ”

Isaiah 49:14-16

To all other mothers continue the ministry of mothering, it can be tough sometimes, but God will continue to be your strength and refuge if you allow HIm and at the end of it all your children shall turn out well and finally call you blessed. (Habakkuk 3:18)

“Though the fig tree does not blossom, and there is no yield on the vines,
Though the olive crop fail, and the fields produce no food, the flock is cut off from the fold, and there is no cattle in the stalls. Yet will I triumph in Adonai, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!  Adonai my Lord, is my strength. He has made my feet like a deer’s, and will make me walk on my high places. “

Habbakkk 3:17-19
For that CERTAIN WOMAN secretly dealing with a rebellious child.

Today, I want to say thank you to an extraordinary CERTAIN WOMAN, widowed early in life, who happens to be my mother. No matter how old I am, I’ ll always be a child to my mom. Let me quickly tell a story about my mom that really blew my mind. It happened while I was working on the last of my four books written; last year and I had to take a week off from everything, locked up in my house and without any food, she called, and I think I unintentionally dropped the fact that I don’t have food in my house. Just like a day after she called and said: ” Oyindamola if you are chanced come over to pick the meals I made for you.” Lo and behold it happened to be many bowls of different foods to last for almost two weeks. Mothers are really amazing! Thanks to my mom and all mothers. God bless you all. And to all those elderly women who are in my support company, I say thank you. HAPPY MOTHERS’ DAY!

“My Mom and myself on her birthday , 2017
